A brow lift in Santa Barbara and Oxnard is one of the most effective treatments to help you vanquish unwanted forehead lines and achieve the younger look you are aiming for.

What is Brow Lift Surgey?

As we age and facial skin and muscles lose elasticity, the brows can drop. Women, when young, generally have eyebrows that arch over the bony rim of the orbital bone (the part of the skull above the eyes). Should your brows drift down over time, and fall below this orbital bone, it can create a tired, weary, and less attractive facial appearance.

Many patients believe they need an eyelift when, in fact, the brow needs to be addressed with cosmetic surgery to resolve drooping eyelids or both. Our brow lift surgery can smooth those worry lines you have developed on the forehead, and restore the brows to the right location - where they were before time and age took its toll.

As the look of your forehead and eyes creates a visual impact, it may be important to you to rejuvenate your face, so it has more of the appeal of youth. A brow lift in Santa Barbara and Oxnard can make a significant difference in facial appearance, smoothing lines and correcting droopy eyebrows. The first step is to find a cosmetic surgeon you can trust to create a natural look.

Is a Brow Lift Right for Me?

A brow lift can have a big impact on how your face appears to others - and to yourself. Various physical changes can make you a candidate for brow lift surgery:

  • Sagging brows
  • A grumpy, sad, or tired look to your face
  • Creases on forehead
  • Frown lines between brows or at top of nose
  • Excess skin that appears to "hang" over your eyes
  • Drooping eyelids

Before & After

Two Types of Brow Lift: Temporal Brow Lift (temples) and Mini-Open Brow Lift

Dr. Morrissette performs several types of brow lift procedures. One is called a temporal brow lift and is appropriate for patients with minimal wrinkles and creases on the brow who only need to raise the position of the brows. The mini-open brow lift addresses both drooping eyebrows and forehead wrinkles. Each procedure is performed under sedation and takes about one hour to complete.

Many people feel that they need eyelid surgery because they have droopy upper eyelids. In actuality, they may need their forehead and eyebrow "lifted" to a more youthful position. Since at times it is the drooping of the eyebrows that is the problem, it is important for the surgeon and the patient to fully realize the contribution of droopy eyebrows before removing eyelid skin. If you have droopy eyebrows and excess skin, then they can be addressed at the same surgery.

Elevating the eyebrows, or brow lift in Santa Barbara, can smooth horizontal forehead wrinkles and raise the eyebrows to a more youthful-looking position. In my office, I prefer to perform brow lift surgery using either a mini-open browlift or a temporal brow lift. With the mini-open browlift technique, the problem of forehead wrinkles is addressed, as well as droopy eyebrows. The temporal brow lift technique is used when patients have minimal forehead wrinkles and mainly require the eyebrows to be elevated.

Brow Lift Benefits and Recovery

A brow lift is an excellent rejuvenating procedure designed to smooth horizontal forehead lines and soften the deep frown lines that form above the nose. Left unaddressed, these creases can inadvertently give your face a tired, sad, or worried expression, even when your facial muscles are completely at rest. By gently elevating the brow, this surgery restores a refreshed, approachable, and youthful appearance. To ensure the most seamless outcome, the procedure must be performed with meticulous care, aiming to achieve a completely natural-looking result once fully healed. The recovery time is about five to seven days.

What to Expect During Recovery

  • Healing from a brow lift requires patience and allowing your body the time it needs to rest. While individual experiences vary, a typical recovery includes:
  • Temporary Swelling: Some initial swelling is expected, but it will rapidly diminish within a short period.
  • Sensation Changes: You may feel an itchy sensation around the incision sites. This is a completely normal part of the healing process and a positive sign that your nerves are recovering.
  • Mild Numbness: The area surrounding the incisions may feel slightly numb at first, a symptom that will gradually resolve over time.
