Brow Lift Surgery

Santa Barbara & Ventura

View Gallery >>

Brow lift Santa Barbara is one of the most effective treatments to help you to vanquish unwanted forehead lines and achieve that younger look you are aiming for. As we age and facial skin and muscles lose elasticity, the brows can drop. Women, when young, generally have eyebrows that arch over the bony rim of the orbital bone (the part of the skull above the eyes). Should your brows drift down over time, and fall below this orbital bone, it can create a tired, weary, and less attractive facial appearance. Many patients believe they need an eyelift, when in fact, it is the brow that needs to be addressed with cosmetic surgery to resolve drooping eyelids, or both. Our Ventura brow lift surgery can smooth those worry lines you have developed on the forehead, and restore the brows to the right location - where they were before time and age took its toll.

As the look of your forehead and eyes create a visual impact, it may be important to you to rejuvenate your face, so it has more of the appeal of youth. A Santa Barbara brow lift can make a significant difference in facial appearance, smoothing lines, and correcting droopy eyebrows. The first step is to find a cosmetic surgeon you can trust to create a natural look.

Is a Brow Lift Right for Me?

A brow lift can have a big impact on how your face appears to others - and to yourself. Various physical changes can make you a candidate for brow lift surgery:

  • Sagging brows
  • A grumpy, sad, or tired look to your face
  • Creases on forehead
  • Frown lines between brows or at top of nose
  • Excess skin that appears to "hang" over your eyes
  • Drooping eyelids

Two Types of Brow Lift: Temporal Brow Lift(temples) and Mini-Open Brow Lift

Dr. Morrissette performs several types of Santa Barbara brow lift procedures. One is called a temporal brow lift, and is appropriate for patients with minimal wrinkles and creases on the brow, and who only need to raise the location of the brows. The mini-open brow lift addresses both drooping eyebrows as well as forehead wrinkles. Each procedure is performed under sedation, and takes about one hour to complete. The recovery time is about five to seven days.

Many people feel that they need eyelid surgery because they have droopy upper eyelids. In actuality, they may need their forehead and eyebrow "lifted" to a more youthful position. Since at times it is the drooping of the eyebrows that is the problem, it is important for the surgeon and the patient to fully realize the contribution of droopy eyebrows before removing eyelid skin. If you have droopy eyebrows and excess skin, then they can be addressed at the same surgery.

Elevating the eyebrows, or brow lift Santa Barbara, can smooth horizontal forehead wrinkles and raise the eyebrows to a more youthful looking position.

In my office, I prefer to perform browlift surgery by either a mini open browlift technique, or temporal browlift technique. With the mini open browlift technique, the problem of forehead wrinkles is addressed as well as droopy eyebrows. The temporal browlift technique is used when patients have minimal forehead wrinkles and mainly require the eyebrows elevated.

Frown Lines, Wrinkles, and Sagging Brows

A brow lift can resolve the horizontal lines on your forehead, as well as those frown lines that appear between your brows, above the nose. Unfortunately, these lines give your face a tired, sad, expression when your face is at rest. A brow lift can be a wonderful rejuvenating procedure that restores a less worried, less tired, and more youthful look to your face - but it must be done with great care so that you get the most natural looking outcome, once you have completely healed.

Recovering from surgery involves rest - give your body the time it needs. The procedure will cause some swelling, which will diminish within a short period of time. You may experience an itchy sensation at the site of the incision - a normal symptom of healing, and a positive sign. The area around the incision may be slightly numb, which resolves over time.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19 View Update Virtual Consultation

The COVID-19 epidemic has created unprecedented circumstances for our community. Our practice has been paying close attention to the guidelines put in place by the government and the CDC and we want to reassure you that, as always, your health and well-being is our primary concern.

With this in mind, we are offering virtual consultations to patients via face time, however face-to-face in office consultation are still available. To schedule a virtual consultation or in office consultation call our office at (805)-214-4034.

Please know that we are constantly updating our services and staffing according to the local and national recommendations and doing our part to make sure that you are protected.

  • We continue to exercise all the latest recommendations that are handed down by the CDC. Our preventative measures include:
  • Fully training all staff members to understand the disease process and its modes of transmission.
  • Asking all staff, vendors and ancillary personnel to refrain from coming to the office if they have any signs or symptoms of a cold or an upper respiratory tract infection.
  • Asking every patient to refrain from coming to the office if they have any symptoms and inquiring about any pertinent travel history.
  • Hand-washing, as this continues to be the most important mode of prevention. Although it is something that we have always constantly done, we are now doing so with heightened vigilance and attention.
  • Constantly sanitizing all surfaces (which we have always done as an accredited facility). However, we have now increased this routine and are wiping down all surfaces, desks, door handles, keyboards and restroom facilities multiple times each day.

Although Covid-19 is a serious issue, we strongly believe that it will pass and hopefully make our infrastructure and our ability to deal with pandemics in this country even better than it currently is. We are closely monitoring this situation on a real-time basis and will update our practice’s guidelines as needed to protect our patients.
