Thread Lift

View Gallery >>

Patients around the globe are thrilled with a new technique to lift and tighten the face without going under the knife. Thread lifting, also referred to as the “lunch time lift” because it can often be performed in one hour, uses absorbable, bio-compatible sutures that help stimulate collagen production to firm up the skin and visibly lift the cheeks, jawline, double chin, and eyebrows -- for a more youthful appearance, with minimal downtime.

Our facial cosmetic surgery practice provides the highest quality care in surgical and non-surgical cosmetic treatments. Dr. Michael Morrissette is a cosmetic surgeon, board-certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a focus on cosmetic treatments for the face. With decades of experience and a commitment to surgical excellence, Dr. Morrissette proudly serves the Ventura and Santa Barbara communities.

Benefits of Thread Lifting

Thread lifting is a convenient and minimally invasive way to rejuvenate the face without the downtime of a traditional facelift. Benefits include lifting, shaping, and dramatic results that can last for years. Results are visible immediately and continue to improve for months after the procedure. A thread lifting procedure produces natural-looking results with no visible scarring. While the threads themselves lift and hold sagging tissue in place, the body begins to produce bundles of collagen surrounding each thread to create additional subtle but effective lifting for a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance. This facial rejuvenation technique can be used to lift and restore youthful contours of the:

  • Jowls
  • Neckline
  • Lips
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Nasal flare
  • Cheeks
  • Brows

How Is Thread Lifting Performed?

The thread lift procedure can be performed under local anesthesia and typically only takes 1 to 2 hours. The surgeon inserts tiny threads—bio-absorbable sutures – under the skin of the face. The sutures attach to skin tissue and are pulled back to lift and smooth sagging areas. They contain cones or knots to help hold the skin in place, which also stimulates collagen production. These sutures break down and are absorbed by the body in approximately 6 to 8 months. The results, however, can last 15 months to 3 years or longer.

Before the threads are inserted, the face is marked to show points of entry, exit points, and directional vectors. Threads may be single or bi-directional. Some areas, such as the cheeks, may need looping threads or multiple threads to create more volume for a youthful appearance.

Using the latest techniques, no incision is made to insert the thread, only a puncture wound made with a needle as the thread is inserted along the marked lines. Once the thread is tightened, cones or hooks in the threads help to hold the skin in the new, lifted position. After the procedure, the threads are invisible, but the results can be seen right away and continue to improve for approximately 2 months as the body produces more collagen in the areas of the sutures.

This procedure can be performed in combination with platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatment for even more dramatic results. In this technique, the surgeon draws the patient’s own blood, from which platelet rich plasma is harvested. PRP is injected along the lines of the threads to boost production of collagen and elastin to further lift and tighten the skin.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Thread Lifting?

Thread lifting offers excellent results with a quick recovery, no scarring, no general anesthesia, and no hospital stay. It is generally safer, less invasive, and much more affordable than traditional facelift surgery.

This procedure is most effective on skin with minimal sagging – for women and men between the ages of 40 and 60. It is more effective and longer lasting than Botox and fillers and particularly effective for rejuvenation of the brows, cheeks, jowls, and neck area.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19 View Update Virtual Consultation

The COVID-19 epidemic has created unprecedented circumstances for our community. Our practice has been paying close attention to the guidelines put in place by the government and the CDC and we want to reassure you that, as always, your health and well-being is our primary concern.

With this in mind, we are offering virtual consultations to patients via face time, however face-to-face in office consultation are still available. To schedule a virtual consultation or in office consultation call our office at (805)-214-4034.

Please know that we are constantly updating our services and staffing according to the local and national recommendations and doing our part to make sure that you are protected.

  • We continue to exercise all the latest recommendations that are handed down by the CDC. Our preventative measures include:
  • Fully training all staff members to understand the disease process and its modes of transmission.
  • Asking all staff, vendors and ancillary personnel to refrain from coming to the office if they have any signs or symptoms of a cold or an upper respiratory tract infection.
  • Asking every patient to refrain from coming to the office if they have any symptoms and inquiring about any pertinent travel history.
  • Hand-washing, as this continues to be the most important mode of prevention. Although it is something that we have always constantly done, we are now doing so with heightened vigilance and attention.
  • Constantly sanitizing all surfaces (which we have always done as an accredited facility). However, we have now increased this routine and are wiping down all surfaces, desks, door handles, keyboards and restroom facilities multiple times each day.

Although Covid-19 is a serious issue, we strongly believe that it will pass and hopefully make our infrastructure and our ability to deal with pandemics in this country even better than it currently is. We are closely monitoring this situation on a real-time basis and will update our practice’s guidelines as needed to protect our patients.
